S. A. MANWILLER - Bio

Scot Manwiller, aka S. A. Manwiller is the author of The Adventures of Jack & Max series of books for beginning readers and reading aloud. The first two books in the series, What Jack & Max Love, and The Truliest Meaning of Christmas were released near the end of 2013. Upcoming releases for 2014 include Friends to 10, and Jack & Max vs. Big Billy the Bully.

Mawiller grew up in a musical family and has always loved to draw. His inspiration for Jack and Max adventure stories comes from lots of places including friends, real events and a fun imagination. One day after he’d drawn a picture of Jack and Max, his wife suggested he write a cute little story to go along with it to help their son Jack learn to read. A big fan of Dr. Seuss, Scot came up with a little rhyming song to introduce the characters. Before long, he had also drawn a picture for almost every line and “The Adventures of Jack & Max” was born! In the many Jack & Max stories he’s written since then, he continues to encourage young readers with rhyming tales full of fun, love and learning.

A skillful musician, Scot taught himself to play keyboard in two weeks in order to join his father’s band, and later spent a year studying at Berklee College of Music. After an accomplished career as a singer and musician - Manwiller has sung lead for Philly jazz icon, Pieces of a Dream, toured with legendary funk band The Brothers Johnson, and sung back up for superstar Celine Dion - he now turns his considerable creative talent to authoring and illustrating children’s books.

Manwiller is thrilled to revisit his passion for drawing, and to combine it with music and stories that celebrate family and friendship.

S.A. Manwiller, lives in Pennsylvania with his wife Kristin, their three children, Jack, twin baby girls Eva and Gianna, their dog Max, and Sophie the Cat.
